Apparently from what I have read, an Ocarina can be a variety of shapes. Searching the Internet will give a lot of designs, and tips on how to create one.  

The ones below do actually work.  But as they are the first I have every turned, the notes are not strictly set to any given scale.   But produce properly, one really needs to experiment with different mouth and hole sizes.
